Campanula Offer Hardy Beauty
The Campanula genus of perennials, often commonly called Bellflowers, are worthy of a space in every landscape. The range of species and varieties of Bellflowers means you can find one, or several, to suit the desired height and bloom size that best fits your available planting space and garden design.
They range from tall and upright with large, dangling flower bells to low and mounding with starry, up-facing, dainty bells. They come in lovely shades of blue, crisp white and even a red one called 'Cherry Bells'. Their bloom times range from early summer to all summer and even into autumn, depending on the variety you choose. Your garden can be ringing in beauty for months!
Bellflowers are also as tough and easy care as they are fun and long-lived! Most are hardy down to -30 or even -40°C, just be sure to check the plant tag when purchasing for temperature/zone information. Trimming off the blooms after flowering will encourage more throughout the season and dividing the plants every 3 years will give you more to plant elsewhere and keep them vigorous.
